LED Pool Light Installation
Turn Your Pool Into a Nighttime Feature, Not Just a Daytime One
A pool that looks great in daylight but goes dark at night is only doing half its job. Aqua Pools installs and converts LED pool lighting throughout Broward County — from a straight swap of a burnt-out fixture to a full color-changing lighting upgrade — matching the right fixture type to your pool’s construction.

Why upgrade to LED pool lighting
If your pool still has an old incandescent or halogen fixture, you’re dealing with a bulb that burns out often, runs hot, and gives you exactly one color: white. LED pool lighting solves all three problems at once, which is why it’s become the standard for new installs and one of the most requested upgrades on existing pools.
- Uses a fraction of the energy. LED fixtures draw significantly less power than incandescent or halogen pool lights for the same brightness, while producing far less heat in the fixture itself.
- Lasts dramatically longer. LED pool lights are rated for tens of thousands of hours of use, compared to the short lifespan of a standard pool bulb — meaning far fewer service calls just to replace a bulb.
- Opens up color and effects. Most LED pool lights offer multiple colors and light shows, so you can match your pool’s lighting to a party, a quiet evening swim, or a holiday, at the touch of a button.
- Improves nighttime safety. A properly lit pool makes it far easier for swimmers to judge depth, see the walls and steps, and know who’s in the water after dark.
- Adds real value to your backyard. A well-lit pool changes how much you actually use your backyard at night — it’s one of the few upgrades that pays off in daily enjoyment as much as resale value.
WHAT WE INSTALL
Niche vs. Nicheless LED lights
Not every pool takes the same type of light fixture, and getting this wrong is one of the most common (and expensive) mistakes in a DIY or rushed lighting job. During your free assessment, we’ll confirm which type your pool needs.
Niche Lights
A niche light is the traditional pool lighting setup: a metal or plastic housing (the “niche”) is embedded into the pool wall during construction, and the light fixture sits inside it, sealed and wired through conduit. This is the standard setup for most concrete/gunite pools built with lighting in mind from the start.
Best for:
- Pools that already have an existing niche housing in good condition
- New pool construction where a niche can be installed as part of the build
- Installations where a larger, brighter fixture is wanted
Nicheless Lights
Nicheless lights are a newer fixture design that mounts flush against the pool wall without requiring a recessed housing. Because there’s no niche to install or repair, they’re often the better option for retrofits, pools with structural or wall-thickness limitations, and vinyl or fiberglass pools where cutting in a traditional niche isn’t practical.
Best for:
- Retrofitting LED lighting into a pool that never had a niche
- Vinyl and fiberglass pools
- Situations where an existing niche is damaged and replacing it isn’t cost-effective
- Faster, less invasive installation
Not sure which system fits your setup? That’s exactly what the free on-site assessment below is for — we’ll look at your existing lighting system and recommend the right option, not just the one we’d rather sell.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my pool has a niche or needs a nicheless fixture?
In most cases, it comes down to your pool’s existing construction — whether there’s already a recessed housing in the wall. We’ll confirm this for you during the free on-site assessment rather than asking you to guess.
Can I convert my old white pool light to color-changing LED?
Yes — this is one of the most common upgrades we do, whether your pool has a niche housing already or needs a nicheless fixture instead.
Do LED pool lights really save money?
Yes. LED fixtures use significantly less energy than incandescent or halogen pool lights and last far longer, which means both a lower electric bill and fewer replacement visits over time.
Will new lighting work with my existing pool automation?
In most cases, yes. If you already have a Jandy, Pentair, or Hayward automation system, we can integrate your new LED lighting into it so it’s controllable from the same app as the rest of your equipment.
Is nicheless lighting as bright and reliable as niche lighting?
Modern nicheless LED fixtures are built to deliver comparable brightness and durability to niche fixtures — the choice between the two comes down to what your pool’s construction supports, not a tradeoff in quality.
How long does a lighting installation take?
Most single-fixture installations or conversions are completed in a few hours. Jobs involving new wiring or multiple fixtures may take longer — we’ll give you a clear timeframe with your quote.
