HOW DOES IT WORK
How a salt chlorinator actually works?
Salt chlorinators run pool water through a cell containing coated titanium plates. A low-voltage current passes through the water as it flows past these plates, splitting the dissolved salt and water molecules through electrolysis. That reaction produces chlorine, which immediately goes to work sanitizing your pool — and then converts back into salt, ready to be used again. It’s a closed loop, which is why salt systems use so little salt over time compared to how much chlorine you’d otherwise be buying.
Because Florida’s intense sun accelerates how quickly generated chlorine breaks down, salt systems here also depend on properly maintained stabilizer (cyanuric acid) levels to hold onto that chlorine instead of losing it to UV exposure.
